How to Speed Up a 3G Modem.

A 3G modem uses a 3G network to establish an Internet connection. It is ideal for travelersand other people who are always on the go. It is also a popular choice for those whose computersdo not have a wireless card installed. A 3G modem usually comes as a USB plug or a dongle with a SIM card placed inside thatcan easily be connected to the computer. The Internet connection speed delivered by a 3G modem is dependent on the strength of the network signal, the speed of the computer you are using and many other factors. Difficulty: Moderately Easy Instructions 1. Ensure that the 3G modem specifications conform to the actual speed of the 3G network you are subscribed to. For instance, your 3G Internet dongle may only have a 3.6MB capacity while the 3G network has a speed of 7MB. If this is thecase, you will need to replace the dongle for a faster Internetconnection. 2. Close applications such as gamesand media players that may slow down the speed of the 3G connection. If you do not notice any improvement on the 3G connection speed, reboot the computer. 3. Ensure that the SIM card is properly attached to the 3G modem. Disconnect the 3G modem from the computer and place the SIM card properly intoits slot. Connect the 3G modem again and see if it generates significant results. 4. Move the computer near a window or door to get a stronger signal. If you are in an enclosed area, you may receive a weaker 3G signal as comparedto when you are in an open area. 5. Disconnect the 3G modem and reconnect it to the computer. This should refresh the connection and boost the 3G modem signal. Reboot the computer. Tips & Warnings *. It is normal for the Internet connection to slow down during peak hours because of the number of users sharing the 3G network. "Peak hours" are the period of the day when the demand for Internet access is atits highest. The specific hours may vary depending on the service provider you are subscribed to. For a faster Internet connection, try using your 3G modem during off-peak hours.
